Evil-ution by Moffat – But They Forgot Cable Service Providers
Stephen Moffat is a Doctor Who genius.

So jeez, you guys, this was a crummy weekend. So I’m on vacation, right, but on the very first night of my vacation, my Internet craps out. Just up and dies on me. Twice I get on the phone with my cable provider’s technical support, and twice they ‘fix’ it, only for it to go out again! They said there were no outages in my area. But that meant I lost my Friday night of hanging out and being my usual Internet-friendly self.
Saturday comes along, and it’s working fine in the morning. I got my Hench-sized reviews up, and all is hunky dory – though mostly I think it’s this way because I went out and bought a fancy new router, thinking that was the problem. But no sooner does my girlfriend sign online Saturday afternoon then the Internet craps out again! And stays out all Saturday night, with spurts of connectivity. My girlfriend, being the trooper she is, stays online on her end, only to get a few minutes of windows to chat with me. Anyway, I know it’s not the router, so I think it’s the modem…but it was late on a Saturday night, and the local cable office isn’t going to open until Monday morning to give me a new modem.
So I rush out the door, intent on buying a new modem at the store for $100. I’m marching to my car when I just happen to pass my downstairs neighbor coming home. I quickly mention my problem, and he says he has the exact same problem!
Two smart blokes like us quickly realize that the problem is on the end of the cable provider. Even though all of my modem’s green lights are working fine, it’s clearly their fault – and this thankfully saves me $100. But that didn’t fix my Internet.
Seriously, no sooner does my vacation start than my Internet crumbles. Fortunately, it came back Sunday morning and has been back ever since. But come on! How is that timing not a little suspect?
