New Judge Dredd Trailer has Distinct Lack of Rob Schneider
No Sylvester Stallone either. But honestly, this new movie, Dredd, is going to have a very, very hard time convincing the average movie-going public that this isn’t just that old Judge Dredd movie done over again, if that it’s been more than 10 years. The character just doesn’t have the kind of appeal in America that Spider-Man or the Incredible Hulk have, both of whom have managed to do a full movie reboot within only a few years of the previous attempt.
Still, I’m on board for this new movie. Check out the first trailer to Dredd.
Also, mad props to star Karl Urban, the guy who played Eomer in the Lord of the Rings, and Bones in the new Star Trek. Apparently this guy is such a big Judge Dredd fan that he practically made this new movie happen all by himself because he hated the Sylvester Stallone adaptation so much. Urban loves Dredd to such an extent that he never takes off his helmet in the new movie. That’s how it went in the comics, but Sylvester Stallone was always taking his helmet off in his version.
I will always respect a celebrity who’s willing to keep his pretty mug from flashing on screen if it means staying true to the character. Toby Maguire was always taking off his mask in the original Spider-Man films, same for Topher Grace as Venom. Pretty boys couldn’t handle keeping their damn masks on!
