A Plastic Man Cartoon? For Reals?

Beyond the silliness that is an actual, honest-to-god Plastic Man cartoon.

Plastic Man is a DC Comics superhero with the ability to, as I’m sure you just watched, strength and shape his body into anything he wants. He’s a comedian, known for being a very silly sort of guy. Which means he’s perfectly suited for a silly willy, diffy daffy kids cartoon courtesy of Cartoon Network. Though he’s not going to get a full show. Instead, Plastic Man is going to get a few animated shorts to go alongside DC’s new DC Nation block of shows, which will include Young Justice and the new animated Green Lantern series.

What’s that you say? A DC Nation animated block? Tell us more, Sean!

Gladly. After the jump.

So yeah, Cartoon Network has two big DC Comics cartoon shows and they’re going to be airing them back-to-back starting March 3. I’m not going to watch simply because I don’t have TV in my apartment. But the very idea is delightful. I enjoy Young Justice. But instead of just having those two shows, Cartoon Network is going to fill the breaks and commercials with a few other, smaller DC animated projects. That Plastic Man short is one of them.

It’s actually based on a proposed but eventually denied Plastic Man pilot from back a few years ago. You can watch a longer episode here. Though personally, the humor is not for me.

But that’s not all!

These DC Nation shorts will also include some new Teen Titans segments from the popular cartoon show that ended several years ago.

And there’s more!

Lauren Faust, brilliant mind behind the popular My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic cartoon (of which I am a fan) will be making shorts based on Supergirl, Batgirl and Wonder Girl called Super Best Friends Forever. That just sounds adorable.

Apparently Lauren Faust is big on having friends

So there you have it. Basically it looks like this is a good time to be a fan of DC Comics animation!
