New ‘Amazing Spider-Man’ Trailer!

Not to be outdone by the wonderful Avengers trailer released during the Super Bowl, Columbia Pictures has put out a new trailer to The Amazing Spider-Man, which is due in theaters on July 3. This trailer is filled with action, with plenty of Spider-Man and our first official looks at the Lizard. So enjoy!

Personally though, I’m still not feeling it. The trailer is pretty cool, and we get to see a lot, but it’s definitely still too dark and moody to be all that appealing. There’s one wise crack in that entire trailer, and the rest is just darkness. I’m not saying Spider-Man has to be all bright and colorful, like the original trilogy. I’m just saying that Spider-Man should not be The Dark Knight, which I’m sure is what this movie wants to be.

But at the same time, I doubted that X-Men: First Class would be anything special and it was the best superhero movie of 2012. So I’m definitely going to give this Spidey reboot the benefit of the doubt.

Here’s the movie description:

The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents’ disappearance – leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr Curt Connors (Ifans), his father’s former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors’ alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.
